When our repeat customers, the Meade family, approached us to build a “magazine worthy” backyard, we got excited for the possibilities in this steep East Tennessee backyard. The large footprint of the both the home and available backyard space allowed us to design big!

Careful planning was required to take advantage of the topography and creating a multitude of areas for entertaining and connecting with guests. The flow of the land inspired us to install two pools, with multiple staircases connecting the various levels and areas.

An important design criteria from the customer that created some engineering challenges was maintaining two different temperatures for multi-season use. The automatic cover on the lower pool can be closed seasonally while still allowing use of the upper pool.

Additionally, we wanted to create a very formal aesthetic with the upper pool so close to the structure, while allowing a more open feeling that was connected to the mature trees and secluded natural environment on this large subdivision lot. Both pools are saltwater pools with high efficiency Pentair natural gas heating systems.

After three months of hard work, with the owners of Brooks Malone onsite working with their team, this amazing vision was realized. The pool took home a Pool of the Month award in March 2024 from Leisure Pools, joining a multitude of Brooks Malone project and team awards accumulated over 30 years of building the dream for Tennessee homeowners. Take a look at how this design came together in our video…

The landscaping features natural travertine decking, natural boulders for retaining walls and step treads, multiple ground media cover and a wide variety of plant species.

Two different firepit areas allow both gas and wood fires, providing quiet nooks for gathering for conversation and connection with friends and family. Additional seating and sunbathing areas are arranged around the central pools to meet a variety of needs.
