This backyard in an upscale subdivision in Johnson City already had some hardscaping and outdoor living features, including a pavilion with an outdoor kitchen. Something was missing to truly call it a backyard paradise though. That’s right…. a swimming pool!

Brooks Malone worked with the homeowner to design a swimming pool installation with additional hardscaping that flowed well, perfectly integrating the existing features with a large Latham Caribbean fiberglass pool, measuing 16′ X 40′ and varying in depth from 3′-6″ to 6’6″. The pool decking and bullnose ledge were crafted in a natural ivory travertine which complements the existing hardscaping while adding next level sophistication.

A comfortable Latham Mystic Spillover Spa, measuring 9′-8″ X 10′-6″ really enhances the design with multiple levels, relaxing waterfall sound, matching travertine skirting, and additional capacity and options for cooling off on a hot summer day. The view away from the house is a serene example of the beautiful rolling farmland of East Tennessee.

The backyard slopes just slightly, so no retaining walls or aggressive terracing were needed in this case. As with most installations, a crane was used to place the fiberglass pool, working around the established landscaping and relatively tight quarters.

This backyard paradise is centered around the expansive Latham Pools model “Monaco.” This large 16′ x 40′ fiberglass pool features an 8′ deep end for diving, full-width entry staircase (or “beverage bench”) as some customers like to use it! The shallow end is 3’6″. It feature’s Latham’s Night Sky Crystal finish, and was installed with upgraded Artisan handrail and ladded for some contemporary flair. The decking is grey release stamped concrete for a no-maintenance, non-slip experience.
